Dr Evangelia (Evina) Katsou (MEng, MSc, PhD, HEA fellow) is Reader (Associate Professor) and Course Director of the Water Engineering MSc at Brunel University, London.
Dr Katsou is leading the Water Engineering group consisting of 8 PhD students and 4 post-doctoral researchers. She has authored 75 publications, 10 book chapters, over 90 presentations in international conferences/workshops. She has delivered over 16 invited talks. Dr Katsou has 1 registered patent (MI2014A002223 23/12/2014) on the production of biopolymers within WWTPs. She is the PI of 5 H2020 and 5 UK National projects, as well as Co-I of 3 H2020 projects. Evina is currently leading the WG (Transformation Tools) of the Cost Action CA17133 and co-leading the SMART WATER working group of the ICT4Water Cluster. She is the co-founders of three companies: SATISTICA Ltd (UK) and Envireco Consulting (Greece) with distinct and successful research lead entrepreneurial activities. She undertakes various consulting activities with contracts awarded from leading UK water industry partners, including Arup, SeverTrent, BuroHappold, Anglian Water, Affinity Water, as well as from international industrial partners. She is currently reviewer of 15 scientific journals.

Research Interests:

• Novel biological and physicochemical processes for wastewater purification and resource recovery
• Data driven analytics for monitoring, control and modelling in process industry
• Circular Economy modelling.
