Role: Hydrologist
Hours per week: Full-Time (37 hours per week)
Salary: £34,562
UKCEH have an exciting opportunity for a Hydrologist to join UKCEH and undertake flood research as part of the Flood Estimation Handbook (FEH) team and across UKCEH. You will play a key role in addressing pressing scientific questions and policy needs surrounding current and future flooding and effective flood risk management through research. Joining an experienced, friendly and supportive team based in Wallingford, you will help to grow this research area within UKCEH. Training on all aspects of hydrological data and FEH methods, software and code will be provided by UKCEH and the FEH team.
Main Responsibilities:
- Utilisng, adapting and updating FEH methods to support a wide range of flood estimation-based projects
- Analysis of hydrometerological data
- Review of evidence to produce high-quality scientific outputs including journal articles, reports and conference presentations
- Contribute to improving exisiting FEH methods
Essential skills Knowledge & Qualifications:
- PhD (or relevant postgraduate experience) in a numerate environmental science subject
- At least a 2.1 degree in an environmental/numerical discipline
