*** ETHICS IN THE FIELD WORKSHOP 5TH MAY 2022, 10AM -1PM (WITH LUNH PROVIDED 1-2PM) ****

Event type: hybrid (in-person and Zoom)

Location: Daryll Ford Seminar Room, UCL Anthropology, 14 Taviton Street

Booking required

This workshop, aimed at early career researchers (Masters students, PhD students, and postdocs), expands on ethical considerations beyond protocols and ethics review board, to actual decisions made in the field. The format of these workshops are deliberately open and flexible to respond to the needs of the different audiences, but includes:

  • an overview of research ethics (around working with human participants)
  • scenarios, examples, and role-play, with discussions around particular approaches and the trade-offs that accompany each
  • discussions about how to work with multiple (perhaps conflicting) collaborators, agencies, and stakeholders
  • reflection on the (under-acknowledged) relationship between the ethical and the methodological
  • question and answer sessions
