“Really good – I appreciated the ability of the trainers to come in and out of the breakout rooms” (Bethany Green, Scientific Officer, Office of Chief Scientific Adviser, Defra, 30 March 2020)
This one-day ONLINE course will introduce you to Evidence Synthesis. It will give you the knowledge, skills and confidence to carry out an Evidence Review Synthesis for an area of Natural Environment research of your personal interest. You will gain and improve skills in undertaking an evidence review – from inception and question formulation with clients, to undertaking a systematic search and data extraction, and reporting. We will also cover the nature and application of different synthesis methodologies within different evidence contexts, policy research, evidence synthesis, mapping and meta-analysis. The training involved hands-on group exercises in developing review questions and undertaking a review.
If you prefer a face to face course, we are planning to offer one in summer 2022 (subject to demand) and we will send you an email once that is available.

This interactive online workshop will boost your confidence and ability to write a great science paper that will be cited again and again. Here is a little taster video introducing you to the course and course leader Prof. Andrew Johnson. We will run this workshop using Zoom. All exercises will take place in small virtual breakout rooms.
If you prefer an in-person course, we will let you know, once we have fixed a date for that.

“This course was great at having all participants engage. Many online webinars are not as engaging. My ability to quickly write clear, engaging manuscripts will improve after taking this course.” (Kelsey Archer Barnhill, Edinburgh University, 12 November 2020)
The next in-person course will run in summer 2022, most likely in Wallingford.
