British Geological Survey at Keyworth, Nottinghamshire, are planning an open day on Saturday 12th October 2019. Celebrating Earth Science Week, the open day will follow the international theme of ‘Geoscience is for everyone’, emphasising the importance of the geosciences in the lives of all people. The day will comprise of lots of hands-on activities, talks and tours to demonstrate the new technology and data we use to deliver world-leading research, in sensing, understanding and predicting the Earth’s behaviour.
Previous open days have attracted a family audience in excess of 2000 visitors. The format will be broadly similar to the 2017 open day event, but due to the time of year, most of the activities will take place indoors. Any NERC researchers who wish to take part can access the Operation Earth kit which provides ready-made, family friendly, public engagement activities around NERC’s world-leading environmental science research.
If you’re interested in taking part in the open day, please send an expression of interest to John Stevenson by 28th June.
