Postgraduate students may use Field Studies Council field centres or field sites to carry out research – either as a one off visit or at regular intervals.
Many of the centres have years of past field data and have already published research separately or working with others. They are also interested in research into the impact of fieldwork and outdoor learning on student attainment and on developing innovative use of ICT in the field.
Subject to availability, students can stay for longer periods. Subsidies or grants may be available to support research or residential costs either from the FSC or from other funding streams.
