Biodiversity & Ecology
The focus of this theme is on multiple aspects of the evolutionary and ecological processes that produce Earth’s current biodiversity.
Biodiversity is of enormous importance in the provision of food, clean water and ecosystem services that are vital for our well-being and that of other species. Specific interests include where and how life occurs, the role of ecological factors such as habitat loss and climate change in widespread extinction of species and the recent influence of humans on biodiversity and ecology.
The Partners have a huge range of expertise in biogeography, conservation, development modelling, environmental genomics, evolutionary genetics, systematics and taxonomy.
The DTP contains world renowned experts in biodiversity loss and environmental change, conservation strategies, ecosystem services, evolutionary and molecular ecology, genome analysis, microbial diversity, restoration ecology, sexual selection and speciation.
